Abbadons Gate is the third installment of James Corey's Expanse series. It depicts a dystopic future, where mankind managed to open the solar system for use, but took all their problems with them. The three main players in the solar system are Earth, Mars and the Belters, which are the people living on all the small stations, Jupiter moons and asteroids in the outer reaches. Spaceships arent Star Trek or TNG style, nothing is neat, pretty much everything is in need of repairs. There are no fancy laser blasters or energy shields, all of it sounds very believable and realistic. Pretty much like its nowadays with addition of the Epstein drive which let people in this book travel faster than we can in our time. The story picks up the thread of the prior two books around the proto-molecule, an alien artefact from outer space and brings it to a preliminary end, meaning the story arc of the proto-molecule in the solar system concludes here. But still with some interesting vistas for a new story spin in the future. No cliffhanger, just possibilities. The summary being done, here goes: This book again contains alot of quite graphic violence and is clearly written for a mature audience as it deals with the finer shades of grey in morality, decision making and human interaction. It is one of the best written Science fiction novels I ever got my hands on.The story is hardly foreseeable with several unexpected twists. No major "ohhhh, I'd never expected that" though.Solid, mature, interesting, gripping, suspending, dirty SciFi.Rates a full five stars any time.

The third sequel of the series brings the story to a major climax with humanity's survival at stake. Like the first two sequels it pŕesents a cast of interesting characters besides Jim Holden and his crew. What intrigues me most is the mixture of dramatic action, moral reasoning and deadpan humour.Definitely first class entertainment with a lot of depth.

It's hard to close out a trilogy (or any other length series). And this was the finest series I've read in years (for sci fi, in decades). Lots of action, the characters keep evolving, and it was just great fun following their adventures. Great job! I hope, there's more - with a universe like this, it would be sad not to develop it more (...and I just saw that there is, thanks guys)

This series is one of the best I’ve ever read. The characters are rich and very well described. The plot is incredibly good and I couldn’t stop reading. Can’t wait to start the next one.
