The Cat and the Bird: A Children's Book Inspired by Paul Klee Reviews
This is a very special book with a touching message. It has beautiful illustrations and an entrancing story line. I used it as a springboard to studying Paul Klee and doing an art project based on this story. I read this book to a group of noisy fourth grade boys who generally were only interested in sports. To my utter amazement and joy, you could have heard a pin drop while I read the story. The ensuing discussion was lively and sincere and the boys became very invested in and proud of their projects. It was a bit of magic!
Love this book! Great condition & excellent shipping time. I use this book in my Kindergarten art class & it has excellent visuals for our experience.
This book was used in conjunction with "Paul Klee for Children" in a series of lessons about the artist. Following the reading of "The Cat and Bird" the students were invited to create their own "Cat and Bird" inspired art but using two other favorite animals. The book is imaginative and easy to read, the children would have enjoyed it alone even without the previous introduction to Paul Klee.
Gorgeous illustrations and cute story! I always introduce Paul Klee to my students using this book!
my students love this book
Used this for a lesson in 2D shapes and polygons. After we read the book, the students created their own Paul Klee inspired buildings.
The pictures are charming. The story is unimpressive. My view of the Klee painting is that the cat is thinking of the bird for very different reasons!
